If you’re looking for a piece of a Columbus business icon, or just some land and a truck or two, Gryphon Asset Advisors LLC will auction the assets of the former Electric Power Equipment Co. on Aug. 26-27.

Gryphon will auction the remaining assets of Electric Power Equipment, which began in 1920 and was shut down in May.

The company began as an electrical contractor and later expanded into equipment leasing, computer consulting and real estate investing through various subsidiaries. It was perhaps best known for its annual holiday lighting display at its former downtown headquarters at 60 E. Spring St.

The auction will include three parcels with an estimated value of $1 million. There will also be tools, equipment and about 40 vehicles, including pickup trucks and passenger cars. All told, Gryphon is hoping to reap about $1.5 million from the auction, said Melissa Kruse, spokeswoman for the auction house.

Electric Power Equipment’s holiday decorations are not included.
