Mr. Kruse began learning about the real estate profession at an early age assisting his father, a real estate attorney, on zoning, development and construction transactions.  He undertook his first brokerage transaction in Washington, DC in 1996 and quickly developed a niche working with banks, attorneys and the court system as broker and auctioneer, eventually becoming one of the most active state court receivers and distressed asset auctioneers in Central Ohio.

Mr. Kruse’s personal engagements focus on state and federal insolvency matters. They range from the management or liquidation of single assets through and including entire company turn around or wind down. .

In 2003 Mr. Kruse opened Gryphon USA, Ltd. and has grown it into one of the most widely recognized distressed asset management firms in Ohio.  Gryphon maintains a receivership and asset management group commercial auction practice art, antique and pottery auction group and real property management group.  Recently Gryphon added political strategy and finance consulting to its’ business services with the opening of Gryphon Political Strategies.

Prior to opening Gryphon,  he spent two years as a consultant to Bid4Assets.com, one of the first companies in the country to promote online only auctions and another 2 years as Senior Vice President at SB Capital, one of the top 5 liquidation companies in the United States, working on projects throughout the country as well as Canada and Mexico.

Mr. Kruse is a founding member of the recently formed Ohio Professional Receivers Association.  He is also a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute and Turnaround

Management Association, where he formerly sat on the board of the Ohio Chapter.  He is a member of the National and Ohio Associations of Realtors, National and Ohio Auctioneers Associations.

He routinely teaches seminars on distressed asset management and corporate wind down.  Further, he is frequently consulted as an industry expert by Columbus Dispatch and Columbus Business First newspapers.

 

Mr. Kruse was recognized as “One to Know” in Real Estate 2013 by Business First and, in October of 2013, was appointed by Gov. John Kasich as a Commissioner on the State Auctioneers Commission.  He acts as advisor on strategy and finance to political candidates in Central Ohio, is a graduate of the 2006 Leadership Columbus Program and received his Honorable Discharge from the US Army Reserve in 1997.
